LIFE: SAW AN OLD PHOTO & IT MADE ME REFLECT

I came across this photo when I was organizing my electronic photo album. It was taken at the Books-A-Million store in Jacksonville, NC on December 11, 2008.

I was featured in a student magazine called “Weekly Reader’ which showcased new and fun careers. Blogging was a big topic in ‘08 and many started to see how lucrative it was becoming.

I specifically asked the photographer to accompany me to that particular Books-A-Million store, because it was one of my favorite places to go. I would purchase books, new journals, quirky pens, the latest magazines and whatever I could get my hands on. Since Jacksonville was a fairly small town, it was easy to go there to read and not have to worry about a crowd of people.

I recently went back to town and saw that they were closing the store down. It was depressing in a way. A lot of memories were there and I correlated them with positive feelings. But as they say, life goes on..

Books aren’t selling anymore. Magazines are dying and anything electronic is KING. I make my money online, so I can’t really complain about the changes. However, it is sad when a new era begins and you can still remember the old one.
